This special post was done by none other than one of my very dear friends Juli one of my “Mud Pies.” I wasn’t able to go with them this time but I did run this one a couple years back. Extra proud that not only did she rock this race, but she’s blogging (or at least guest posting, lol) again. She told me she used to have a blog once, I hope she decides to do it again. “Will run for chocolate”……words to live by at the Chicago Hot Chocolate 5k/15k on Sunday, November 9th. This popular race is extremely organized and brings 40,000+ runners each year. This was my second year attending and was once again impressed with the turnout and the number of volunteers braving the cold to cheer us on. The festivities start with the Hot Chocolate Expo at McCormick Place for three days prior. There is no packet pickup on the day of the race so either attending the Expo or having someone pick up your packet is required. A group of us took the train out of Barrington on Saturday to head downtown.
Myself, Jen, Alyson, Pam and Marta had made arrangements to stay overnight after hitting up the Expo. We quickly checked in then caught a cab to McCormick Place. After breezing through the process of picking up our bibs and sweatshirts, we spent some time visiting the various vendors, sampling…
