What to Expect when you have Expectations of Others

(Originally published 10-25-14. A timeless lesson we all need to remember now and again!)

Did you expect me to wear glasses today? Did you have any expectations?

Expectations.  Boy was wrong I was about you.

What if I told you the secret to true happiness was always there, inside you?  The corny line that Dorothy was told to by Glinda in OZ….when she got the ruby shoes, lol. Really.  What if I said to you that no amount of money, education or huge career will uncover the true happiness and life success that you know you are missing because you are still not happy?

The Lack of Uplifting and Uniting Women in 2014. What is our problem ladies?

(Originally posted 9/10/14.  Was talking with the OG last night and she hadn’t seen this post yet (Other Grandma) so I had to make sure I reposted it.  It really goes well with my entire weekend theme that I didn’t plan on here heh heh. Enjoy friends!)

We do not yet live in a world where women stand united completely. No, we do not. In fact, we are still so far from it and living in 2014. Come on ladies, get it together.

I have been wanting to write this article for years as its gone around and around in my head. Since I restarted this blog it was on my draft list, but left idle as the message I wanted to convey didn’t come into focus as clearly as some others have. However after something I experienced yesterday when interacting with one of my favorite young bloggers and budding authors, I forced myself to sit down and write it today. Whether or not the message comes across in the perfect way I want it to, I must at least begin planting the seeds and hope somehow readers get it and by some stroke of luck we start making real changes. PICTURE OF THE YEAR

Picture this Grand mom Blogger grinning ear to ear right now. This is officially Beginning Life at 43’s picture of the year. It shows in one picture all I believe and share with you I know is possible. Bursting with pride as I see a picture of hope, change, possibilities and new dimensions of goodness this world is in still store for. Yes it is folks and the best part is NOT that it was re-posted by a GUY friend and originally came from the “Fox & Friends” Facebook page. The best part is she herself is an Arab.

Friends: My Werid Twin

Friendship Day has inspired me.

A Me and my Werid Twin production

I wasn’t always so “friendly” or surrounded by so many real friends, like I can say I am today.   As I learned to love myself, I could let people in further without risk of getting hurt.  I also eliminated “friends” that brought me down, or made me feel bad when I was around them.  You have to do that.  Things like no expectations, as well as other “life rules” I’ve learned, help keep my friendships strong, growing and mostly pain-free. Running with friends still hurts sometimes though, lol.

Another week goes by as life persists on sucking summer out of the way to make room for back-to-school items

Hope it was a Happy Friendship Day for you yesterday. I’d like to tell a truth.

I did run a few times this week, but my heart and desire for it are no where near where they should be. A lot has happened to me since the marathon.   Just when you get to the place where you finally think nothing can touch you, something will come, touch you, then knock you the hell off your pedestal.

We SHALL overcome

Why is it that it doesn’t matter if your kids are grown up and moved away– if something bad happens to them or they are hurting, it hurts us JUST as much, if not more, then if it happened to ourselves.

We want to fix it, change it, do anything possible thing we can to make it better, and if we can’t we at least want to help them through it.  We know having been there many times ourselves that each day things will feel a little better and eventually everything will be okay again.  We know  these are obstacles or “stumbling blocks”, in life that usually come when we are making some sort of progress and are designed for us to trip on, fall over, turn around at or just stop.  To find our way around these sidewalk-cracking boulders is the real key, and it’s not easy, but it is very possible.   And even, after a while of this fancy-footwork, obstacles can be reduced to mere rocks we can just kick out of the way… if we just keep trying and not letting them get us down.
